I am picking all NFL games against the spread for the fourth straight season. For continuity purposes, I will use MGM Mirage lines via vegasinsider.com as of Wednesday afternoon unless noted.

    Week 1: 8-7-1

    Week 2: 6-9-1

    Week 3: 9-7

    Week 4: 7-8

    Week 5: 8-7

    Week 6: 8-7

    Week 7: 9-4-1

    Week 8: 7-7

    Week 9: 5-8

    Week 10: 6-7-1

    Week 11: 8-5

    Week 12: 8-7

    Week 13: 6-10

Week 13 recap: I blame the following for what absolutely should have been 10-6: myself; a "friend'' who shall remain nameless; the Colts/Andrew Luck; the Steelers/officials/bad luck; the Packers; and the Redskins/bad luck. These are the types of weeks that prevent me from ever gaining traction in the NFL ATS pig pile.

    1. I was all set to pick the outright upset by the Jaguars over the visiting Indianapolis Colts. I typed all of the words...then my "friend,'' during a casual review, informed me that I was crazy. So I opted for the Colts to cover the 3.5-point spread with a four-point victory. Final: Jaguars, 6-0. Jaguars snapped an eight-game slide; Colts' winning streak ended at five. Oh, by the way: Colts and QB Luck hadn't scored fewer than 24 since Week 3.

    2. I picked the mediocre but heavily favored Packers to cover the 14-point spread and drill the bad Cardinals at Lambeau Field. Packers stunk, and Cardinals made an assortment of ridiculous plays. Final: Cardinals, 20-17. Packers fired coach Mike McCarthy several hours after the game.

    3. I picked the Steelers to cover the 3.5-point spread and defeat the Chargers at Heinz Field. Steelers led, 23-7, at halftime. They never blow 16-point leads in the second half at home -- until they did. Final: Chargers, 33-30. The first Chargers touchdown should not have counted because of a blatant false start. Another Chargers TD happened only after two Steelers defensive backs collided in the end zone and the ball popped into the hands of receiver Keenan Allen.

    4. I picked the Redskins and substitute QB Colt McCoy plus 6.5 at Philadelphia on Monday night. I was sure McCoy would deliver a glorious backdoor cover in a six-point loss....except that McCoy broke his leg in the first half. Mark Sanchez replaced McCoy, and I had no chance. Final: Eagles, 28-13.

    Week 14

    Thursday, Dec. 6

    Jacksonville at Tennessee

    The line: Titans by 4

Skinny: Both teams have confounded me this season -- outright and against the spread. I guess I'll opt for the home team even when it feels like a field-goal difference.

    The pick: Titans, 19-14.
