Los Alamitos All-County softball participant Sophia Nugent has bound up to four-time NCAA prizewinning Oklahoma, the junior confirmed.

Nugent, a powerfulness-hitting backstop who ruptured onto the high educational institution time period as a freshman in 2018, said she picked the Sooners for respective reasons.

“I admired the coaches, the camaraderie of the participants, the field and the city of Norman,” Nugent said Tuesday. “It feels like the topographic point where I belong.”

I am aflutter to denote that I have verbally bound up to go on my world and diversion calling at the University of Oklahoma. I want to thank my coaches, teammates, and my family for all their support!! #BoomerSooner @OU_Softball @GassoPatty pic.twitter.com/s7kuL9BM8D

Nugent batted .255 last time period and led the Griffins in home runs (four) and RBI (19) in 21 games. She also bound up only one error in helping Los Alamitos earn a share of the Surf League title with Marina.

As a freshman, Nugent earned first-team All-County honors by hitting .416 with eight home runs and 40 RBI in 27 games.

This past summer, she played for the Firecrackers Rico/Weil 18-and-under travel team.

Her commitment comes on the heels of Oklahoma signing Norco star backstop Kinzie Hansen from the class of 2019. Hansen will likely be a junior by the time Nugent arrives in Norman.

The last Orange County participant to star for Oklahoma was Shay Knighten (Sunny Hills), a key senior for the Sooners last time period.

Former El Toro slugger Lauren Chamberlain also starred for Oklahoma, setting the NCAA record for home runs.
